My Favourite Accessory and HairStyle

There is nothing more elegant than a nice up-do accessorized with pearl earrings! I find that a simple pair of pearl earrings can take your everyday look to an elegant one especially when you decide to spend a few extra minutes on your hair.I am not one to have much patients when it comes to doing my hair but I am slowly picking up basic skills from my fellow bloggers and YouTubers to help me with my hair styling. My favourite technique so far is this clean up-do that takes about 10-15 minutes.

The trick with this up-do is a bun-tie donut base, which I decided to loosely wrap my hair around so that it doesn’t look too tight and can be worn for a daytime look. These bun-tie donuts are really easy to use and there are several tutorials on YouTube that can show you the step-by-step process. However, you need to have at least shoulder length hair for this to work and it is less friendly to thicker hair.I also found that when you have highlights, like myself, you have to be extra-careful about how to brush your hair back and adjust the highlights from time to time when pinning your bun so it doesn’t look too clumped together.

The topper for this look is my all time favourite earrings from Maison Birks: a popular jewelry store in Canada. These were gifted to me only last year but I have worn them numerous times. From day to night it is my go to accessory for almost any outfit. It can take an edgy look and make it softer and also take an evening dress and add even more elegance to it!

Another reason why I love these earrings in particular is because they are Akoya Pearl (one of the highest qualities of pearls one can get) and they are paired with a small diamond stud at the bottom, giving it a little sparkle.

I am aware that this is an investment piece but it is one that you will have for years and years to come. I love small jewelry pieces that are understated yet classic and timeless and this is one accessory that will never go out of style.
