Hello my lovely readers!
It’s the first day of September which means Fall is just around the corner! With a new season comes an entirely new wardrobe and I am so excited to share some of my #OOTD Fall posts with you all. As the weather gets colder, more covered clothing is essential so I thought this jumpsuit is the perfect fit. This is an easy yet fashionable piece to wear during the day or at night with a pair of heels. I love love love how comfortable the jumpsuit is and it got me curious to research a little bit about the history of “Jump Suits” so of course I turned to my trusty Vogue encyclopedia and here is what I found;
The first jumpsuit was invented by Thayat in 1919, it was designed (as most fashion items are) to represent a social statement at the time; an anti-bourgeois symbol. Believe it or not 1919 was a futuristic time, people were ready for change and the jumpsuit was a liberating garment. Lack of complexity in the seams and structure of the garment was accompanied by just a few buttons and a belt to represent the new age.
Isn’t that just amazing?! This garment still carries the same futuristic attitude that it first did in 1919. Although we have come a long way since the original design, it’s still the same comfortable and freeing garment it once was!
I hope you guys enjoyed that brief vogue history and now for my OOTD 🙂
Let me know what you guys think of the outfit and the history of the jumpsuit!
