Hello my amazing readers!
It’s life hack thursday!! I am back with another amazing find and this one applies to those with a dire need of hair care treatments. I have just been introduced to this and it’s honestly been pretty life changing for me!
Over the years I have done a lot of damage to my hair because I am constantly dying it. I have also spent way too much money on hair care products that are at best.. well.. meh! especially for the price tag that they carry. Luckily I was advised by a dear friend of mine to try and apply coconut oil to my hair and it’s really done wonders for me! I was a bit skeptical to apply what seemed like edible food to my hair, I have heard all kinds of crazy stories about applying eggs and even mayonnaise to your hair for deep conditioning and I was just not down for any of that. Coconut oil though seemed more doable at least for me to try.
If you are experiencing dry hair and want to give it some extra shine and strength try this and I swear you will be making it a regular hair mask.
You will need an hour or two before you plan on washing your hair and you have to buy raw organic coconut oil, which should look like a white cream at first. Simply steam heat the oil until its melted and warm (not too hot because you will need to apply it to the scalp). Once the oil is warm put some on the palm of your hands and gently apply it throughout your hair and scalp. Next, wrap-up your hair in a shower cap and let it sit for 30-60 minutes (the longer the better) before you shower and wash your hair.
Here are some of the benefits of coconut oil for your hair:
- Moisturizes your hair and scalp
- Is anti-fungal and gets rid of dandruff
- Penetrates the hair shaft
- Protects your hair from losing protein when washing which results in thicker hair
- Contains vitamin E and lauric acid, both are essential for strong, healthy hair and prevent hair loss
- Contains fatty acids that strengthen your hair resulting in less split ends
- Gives your hair a healthy shine
let me know what you guys think!
