Hello my awesome readers,
Happy Monday! I hope you are all starting the week strong and with a lot of positive vibes around you. One of my favourite home-decor essentials are fresh flowers and I love everything about them. Aside from the obvious beauty of flowers and plants there is something more remarkable about them and it’s to do with their stillness.
When I look at a single flower, it’s hard for me to take my eyes away after just one glance. I really believe there is a certain energy and a secret code that lives in nature. As Eckhart Tolle once brilliantly put it:
“Look at a tree, a flower, a plant. Let your awareness rest upon it. How still they are, how deeply rooted in ‘just being’. Allow nature to teach you stillness. When you look at a tree and perceive its stillness, you become still yourself.”
In an anxiety induced world filled with the idea of having to rush through everything we often miss the most significant signs of life and peaceful living. Flowers, plants and trees are one of my personal reminders of how beautiful life is and how we should take moments to appreciate it.
I try to get fresh flowers every Sunday and yesterday I got these gorgeous purple orchids from the corner store in my neighborhood. Since the florist at this shop has seen me come by on numerous occasions, she finally asked me if I buy flowers as a gift for someone every week? I responded telling her that I love to have fresh flowers in my home and so I actually buy them for myself.
She looked at me for a moment and then said;
“That’s a great habit to have, not many people are aware of this but having been a florist for some years now, I can confidently say there is great power within live plants and it’s not just because they are pretty.”
I was delighted that she shared her stories with me and pointed out some of her most favourite flowers and I grabbed these purple orchids as it was one of her recommendations:
