Yesterday we lost one of the brightest lights in our family.
My beautiful grandmother, she left us here.
A thousand tears won’t bring her back but selfishly I still cry.
My heart aches like it never has before, a piece of it is gone with her light.
She taught us all how to love.
She loved us all unconditionally.
There will never be another angel that graces the world as she did.
She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother & mother-in-law.
She was proof that there are still angels among us.
And anyone who met her loved her instantly.
Her hugs were a momentary escape from all worldly problems.
Her laughter was incredibly contagious.
Her generosity changed lives.
She was the best hostess of all time.
If you ever went to her house, it’s likely you left overfed.
And even though in her last years, she could barely walk, she would often say;
“I left food for you in the fridge, go and get it, oh & there is ice cream too.”
There was always; “ice cream too”.
She was so pure in her presence and so unfiltered with her thoughts that we could only look at her with admiration.
My greatest childhood memories are with my grandmother.
She would always smile and play with us.
She would tell us the best bedtime stories and often we’d fall asleep on her.
She would let me try on all her jewelry and would say;
“I am gonna give those to you on your wedding day”.
And I know, if I do get married she will still be there with me.
My grandmother had the biggest heart of anyone I have ever known.
And my heart is truly left broken today.
To have been in her presence was a gift.
To have known her was a privilege.
To have been her granddaughter was magical.
Heaven got even better today because it gained the most special angel of all.
(I know you are with grandpa now, smiling down on us with a cup of tea in your hands, I miss you both dearly.)
