Two Year Bloggerversary & The Next Chapter.

Two years ago today, I began this blog as an experimental project that I did not expect would carry on for this long. I was first introduced to the blogosphere through work and got inspired by the amazing posts other bloggers were putting out into the world. I wanted to try my hand at blogging and learn the ins and outs of what many bloggers experience. Here is a snippet of the very first post on this blog:

“As I grow increasingly bored of television and traditional news, I have come to rely on; blogs, YouTube, Netflix and other Internet-based channels to revive my intellectual needs.”

At the time I wrote that post, I was fascinated (& still am) by blogs because they seemed so unfiltered and far less curated then social media & news. I loved reading other peoples thoughts and experiences, almost entirely just as they happened. Blogging has taught me so many different priceless lessons that I am eternally grateful for, here are just a few of them:

WordPress: I never thought I would get so familiar with WordPress and it’s many advantages (& sometimes limitations). In the last two years, I have learned a tremendous amount from this platform and how to build a functioning website. I have also been able to connect with its blogger community and that has been by far the most rewarding. (Oh & of course the memories of all the failed plugins that broke my site and the many hours I spent trying to fix them…ohhhh… memories!)

Self-Reflection/Growth: My goodness, so much self-reflection took place on this site! I think in part this site may have been my own self-therapy of sorts. The last two years have been a turning point in my life in so many ways and I can attribute a lot of that to this blog because it constantly and habitually made me think and re-examine everything.

Shared Experiences: I was so happy and excited to constantly receive words of encouragement and advice from other fellow bloggers. As well, I was able to find many like-minded people whom I am still in touch with. I even dabbled a little bit with podcasts and movie reviews with another fellow blogger all the way in Korea (just wild!).

An Eternal Mark on The Web: In a really weird way, I sometimes wrote this blog as a diary that my great great great grandkids could look at from Mars or whatever planet they inhabit in the future. And although not all the posts were an advice piece, I thought: let me share a moment of time (life as it exists through my lens) with the future- if they ever so cared to find it. And with that mindset, I tried to share both the good and the bad and my most honest thoughts that perhaps social media would not allow.

Writing Everything: Admittingly, I’ve written about a lot of random topics and I know that often works against the popularity of a blog. The rules of a successful blog (as I have been told) are to focus on one subject and stick to it. Well, this blog was a fun side project and I wasn’t about to limit my creativity just to gain more followers. This blog has never been about that. So with that in mind, I wrote about everything and anything I found to be interesting. In fact, that random flow of thought is what led me to my most viewed post to date: Feng Shui & 7 Lemons in a bowl!

Which has been viewed around 17,000 times to date and remains to be the top search result on Google for “lemons in a bowl”. Strange but awesome success for parparv.com.

Here are some more stats of the blog that are just wonderful and I am eternally grateful for:

292 posts published.

4, 815 likes on posts.

1,735 comments on posts!! (you guys seriously are the best with sharing your thoughts with me and it always enlightened me to think critically and about all aspects of a topic.)

131 different countries from around the world came to this little blog!! This I have to say, was the most rewarding.

Top traffic countries; United States, with 26K + views & Canada, with 20K+ views

I will never forget the handful of users from countries I never thought would land on this little project of mine; Uganda, Bolivia, Botswana, Guam, St.Kitts and Nevis, Rwanda, Réunion Island, Bosnia, Macedonia and many more different pockets of the world! It’s like viewing the power of the internet on one WordPress map and once again I am eternally grateful.

What a journey it has been! I could not be more grateful for all the love I have received from all around the world. Thank you to each and every single one of you dear friends, near and far, who have made this blog so interactive and fun! what will become of this blog in the future or if I will continue to post, I can’t say for sure but what I do know is that I will carry the lessons learned from this journey forever and will continue to follow the blogs I have come across.

I don’t do goodbyes so this is more of a “see you later”! & the hopes that when I come back I will have more wisdom to share.

Until next time beautiful people of the web  ❤

There’ll always be a place for you here in London. Would be lovely to see you. The same with my blog. Your warm and witty insights are always a delight. I’ll be sure to check your Instagram too. I’ve posted quite a bit but I may cut back a bit too. I bought loads of new books (and got given quite a few others as presents) and will be writing more too.

  6. This is rather depressing a post if you are to disappear on us. I must admit I did enjoy reading your stuff and also the fact that you are so incredibly beautiful helps too. If you are to ever come back, you will be welcome with open arms.
